Dr. John Boos is the founder and Principal Consultant of Boos Health. His passion in pharmacy entails hospital, pharmaceutical and managed care settings. With in-depth knowledge of all the aforementioned settings. He talks the language of hospital pharmacy and knows how to navigate the depths of payor organizations.

He was the Director, Pharmacy Utilization Management at EmblemHealth. Coordinated utilization management including Prior Authorizations, Step Therapy and Quantity Limitations for 3 million members in the New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island region. Managed Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial and Health Exchange pharmacy products. Handled medical buy-and-bill claims from providers and institutions for reimbursement. Built a team of clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and supervisors consisting of 30+ employees.

He was the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at NYU Langone Health where he collaborated with various hospital leaders to improve interdepartmental workflow and policies. Performed inventory management, 340B purchasing and strategic planning for drug shortages/recalls. Built a new pharmacy with enhanced technology, USP 797 and 800 clean rooms. Prepared P&T Committee agenda and presented clinical and economical evidence to hospital leadership.

He rounded with physicians on hospital floors and managed ambulatory clinics to treat chronic conditions. He recommends practical solutions based on insights in the healthcare industry, business perspective and strategy for organizations to succeed. He completed his PharmD at Long Island University and MBA in Pharmaceutical Management at Rutgers Business School. He is a licensed and registered pharmacist in the State of New York and State of New Jersey. He holds certifications in Medication Therapy Management (MTM), Immunization, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
